Best Design Inspiration Blog 2020 – please vote for us!

In 2019 we were thrilled and surprised to be crowned Best Design Inspiration Blog in the Oscars of the interior blogging world, the Amara Interior Blog Awards. Can you help us do it again?

We’re so happy to announce we have been nominated once again for Best Design Inspiration Blog 2020, making it our fifth year.

However!… We have some tough competition if we want to get through to the next stage of the Awards and we need YOUR vote to help us make the shortlist.

Why vote for us?

We’ve had an unusual year here at Film and Furniture since winning last year’s Amara Interior Blog Awards but 2020 has also been a tumultuous year for many. Our homes have become our sanctuaries and ever-more important during lockdown. Apart from taking up exhausting online fitness workouts and rediscovering the joy of bread-making, many of us spent more time on the sofa and watched more films and TV than ever. Not only did this bring us a bit of escapism, it also brought us much inspiration for interior design projects big and small.

From cult classics to contemporary blockbusters, movie film sets are endlessly inspiring. We’re here to report on your favourites, wax lyrical about the details and show you where to find these interior pieces for your own home.

At your service! Bringing you design inspiration from the best of film and TV

Since bringing home our award last year we’ve brought you interior design inspiration from on screen world’s as diverse as Hollywood’s Golden Age in Netflix miniseries Hollywood, the lavish 18th Century film sets of satirical drama The Great and eclectic student digs in Normal People.

As working from home became the new norm we took you on inspiring home tours including the home cinema of a Blade Runner superfan as well as a Californian home office filled to the rafters with film references and movie memorabilia.

And since we all spent more time on our sofas we suggested you make it one that’s super comfortable and felt it our duty to bring you an edit of Ready to Go sofas – and movie suggestions to complement each sofa design.

We’ve also brought you interior design tips from a millionaire crime boss in Steve McQueen‘s Widows, a round up of Space Age furniture and lighting from classic Sci-Fi, had a good nose around Boxer’s Ibiza apartment in White Lines and celebrated the 40th anniversary of The Shining by taking a look at the lasting legacy of the Overlook Hotel’s iconic hexagon-patterned carpet. Many thousands of you around the world have joined us on a stylish bar crawl to sample the best whiskey glasses in film and in reading up on the contrasting houses featured in 2020’s Oscar winning films.

Before lockdown we were able to hot foot it over to Modernism Week, Palm Springs where founder Paula Benson gave a talk on the stories behind iconic film decor to a packed out audience. She was also due to give a talk on the furniture and film sets of 2001: A Space Odyssey at New York’s Museum of Moving Image which sadly had to be cancelled due to Covid-19.

Although Paula founded and is the figurehead of Film and Furniture, this is not a one-woman show! We have guest writers, researchers, volunteer copy checkers, furniture consultants, tech gurus and brilliant designers who all contribute to make the site what it is – not to mention all the talented production designers and set decorators who are willing to share their secrets with us.

And YOU of course, our fascinating and loyal readers, we thank you for your continued interest and support. Your questions and suggestions about furniture and decor in films send us on endless adventures of investigation.

Every vote counts and we’d love it if you could spare a second to VOTE FOR US HERE!

(Voting closes Friday 4th September, 2020)
