Cassiopeia table lamp by Max Sauze (also available as a pendant light) as seen in House of Gucci

The Cassiopeia table lamp by Max Sauze is a piece of art and supreme craftsmanship.

Designed and originally manufactured by the French designer Max Sauze in the late 1960s, these lamps have become collectors items and we are delighted to collaborate with Max’s son Sebastien Sauze to bring you these very lights, newly made by hand.

Max Sauze was a master of metal and created dynamic and sculptural light fixtures. He established his own immediately recognisable style through the construction of bent aluminium strips on steel wire structures. He is today recognised internationally for his work.

Sauze’s most famous designs are named after constellations and other celestial bodies, hence the name Cassiopeia.

The complexly geometric Cassiopeia table lamp was first created at a huge chandelier for the Congress Center in Aix en Provence, France.

It is both a sculpture and a light, an object of mystery and beauty whether lit or not and featured prominently in the movie House of Gucci in Maurizio and Patrizia Gucci’s New York home which is a particularly glamorous affair.

The highly skilled production at the heart of Sebastien Sauze’s workshop is essential to the finished object. Everything is created by hand, from raw material to transformation into a completed object, in a series of deft operations.

 

This light is normally only available as a hanging pendant but we have agreed to have these made for Film and Furniture with a small base so that it becomes a free standing table lamp exactly as seen in House of Gucci.
