2025 Film Awards: Spotlight on Production Design and Set Decoration – Part 1

2025 Film Awards: Spotlight on Production Design and Set Decoration – Part 1

The 2025 film awards season is officially underway, and we’re excited to bring you our roundup of the nominees in this year’s design categories. Over the next few weeks, we’ll deliver a series of comprehensive design-focused award lists, exploring the sets, locations, and furniture that make each film unique—from deserts and the Vatican to imaginary palaces and Brutalist masterpieces.

We’re constantly inspired by the visionary work of the production designers, set decorators, and the entire art department, who build these worlds to both entertain and inspire us. We know you share our passion for great design – and we’re thrilled to have you with us as we celebrate these talented individuals.

First up, we’re proud to present our overview of the recently announced nominations for the 29th Art Directors Guild Awards and the 5th Set Decorators Society of America (SDSA) Awards. We’re also eager to share a special on the Oscar nominations, which have been rescheduled from January 17 to 19 due to the tragic Los Angeles fires. Our thoughts are with everyone affected.

Stay tuned for more, as we’ll also be covering the EE BAFTA Film Awards shortlist out on January 15 and the British Film Designers Guild (BFDG) Awards nominations announced on January 13. Here’s to the visionary work that takes us into new worlds!

The ADG Awards

The Art Directors Guild (IATSE Local 800) 29th Excellence in Production Design Awards will take place on February 15, 2025, hosted by actor and comedian Rachael Harris at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown.
