Tulip chair by Eero Saarinen (armless and armchair) new
Designer: Eero Saarinen
Knoll
Directors: Akiva Goldsman, Steven Spielberg
Considered one of the great icons of design, Eero Saarinen’s Tulip chair is characterised by the instantly recognisable cup-shaped frame, emphasised by the reduction of support to a single stem.
Designed in 1957 as part of the famous Pedestal collection, that vowed to address the ‘ugly, confusing, unrestful world’ underneath tables and tables, the chair consists of a sweeping base of die-cast aluminium lacquered in white and is coated with a protective layer.
Printed with the designer’s signature positioned under the base to certify authenticity, the Tulip Chair is a unique and timeless icon that is sure to steal the spotlight in any living space.
Also available in a swivel based version and armchair model.
This chair by Eero Saarinen appears in TV and fims such as Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Casino Royale (1967) and A Clockwork Orange.
Other kinds of Tulip chair – the Tulip Chair 115 designed by Maurice Burke for Arkana and the Tulip Chair 116 designed by Maurice Burke for Arkana appear in Star Trek The Original Series.
