Cross Table by Matthew Hilton
Designer: Matthew Hilton
Director: Kristoffer Borgli
Seen throughout Charlie and Emma’s Boston apartment in The Drama, the Cross Table anchors some of the film’s most telling moments, including the scene where Charlie rehearses his wedding speech. It is a piece that feels entirely at home on screen. Calm, assured, and built for real life.
Designed by Matthew Hilton, one of Britain’s most respected contemporary furniture designers, the Cross Table reflects a disciplined approach to form and function. Clean architectural lines define the base, creating a sculptural presence while allowing generous legroom. The result is a table that works just as well for everyday dining as it does for larger gatherings.
Available in both fixed and extending versions, the extending model is particularly considered. A smooth pull reveals space for two additional leaves, supported by a precision ball-bearing mechanism that makes the transition feel effortless. When not in use, the leaves tuck neatly into a concealed, felt-lined compartment beneath the tabletop. Nothing interrupts the clarity of the design.
Crafted from a solid wood base with a solid edge veneered top, the Cross Table comfortably seats between six and fourteen people when extended. It is adaptable without ever feeling overworked.
Recognition has followed. The table received the ELLE Decoration Award for Best in Furniture, the Homes & Gardens Classic Design Award, and the Design Guild Mark, all affirming its place within contemporary British design.
A table that earns its place both on screen and in the home.
