Alanda Coffee Table by Paolo Piva for B&B Italia

Designed by Paolo Piva and first produced by B&B Italia in the early 1980s, the Alanda coffee table is one of the defining furniture designs of its era. Combining a minimalist glass top with a striking geometric steel frame inspired by a cluster of inverted pyramids, it blurs the line between furniture and architecture.

Its sculptural form has made it a natural choice for filmmakers. The Alanda coffee table appears in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League and American Psycho, where its crisp, architectural aesthetic sits perfectly within Bruce Wayne’s contemporary residence and Patrick Bateman’s meticulously curated apartment.

Originally conceived by Piva as a celebration of architectural structure in miniature, the table remains one of his most admired creations and has become a highly sought-after vintage piece. B&B Italia has since reissued the design, staying faithful to the original while making it available to a new generation of design enthusiasts.

The current production features a glossy black painted steel frame supporting a glass top available in either extra light or smoky glass.
