Student Academy Awards 2024 ceremony is crossing the Atlantic and will be held in London
Exciting news for film enthusiasts! The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that this year’s Student Academy Awards ceremony will be held in London.
Traditionally hosted at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, this prestigious event will take place at the iconic ODEON Luxe Leicester Square on Monday, October 14, at 7:00 p.m. BST. If you’re eager to attend, keep an eye out for tickets, which will be available in September.
In a thrilling partnership with the BFI London Film Festival, the Student Academy Award winners will have the unique opportunity to participate in panels and networking events, offering them invaluable access to industry insights and connections. What’s more, they’ll be able to tap into the wisdom of Academy members, gaining support that could be pivotal for their burgeoning careers.
Bill Kramer, CEO of the Academy, shared his excitement about this international move, saying, “As a leader in our international film community, and as our organisation becomes more global in focus, the Academy is thrilled to bring the Student Academy Awards to London this year.” He also expressed gratitude to Rolex for their unwavering support of this vital program and to the BFI London Film Festival for their partnership in making this event a reality.
The winners of the 51st Student Academy Awards® competition, to be announced in September, will have a shot at competing in the 97th Oscars® in categories such as Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, and Documentary Short Film. The track record of past winners is impressive, with 67 Oscar® nominations and 12 awards under their belts.
Rolex’s involvement in the Student Academy Awards is part of the Academy100 initiative—a remarkable $500 million global campaign launched in May 2024.
