Wegner Ox Chair

Designer: Hans J Wegner

Modernica

With a distinctive head rest reminiscent of ox horns, the Ox Chair is an iconic modern classic by Danish designer Wegner, created in 1960. A padded chair, covered with oxhide or fabric and raised off the floor by light but strong legs in chromium-plated steel, it was Wegner’s own favourite chair at home because quite simply, it is comfortable. It is also very commanding. What’s not to like?

This handsome chair is also the essence of masculinity and was chosen for Mike Myers portrayal of Doctor Evil in Austin Powers (1997)

The Ox chair and Ox Ottoman were originally manufactured by AP Stolen of Denmark. Produced for only two short years, the chair was out-of-production in Europe for twenty-seven years. Subsequently in 1989, Erik Jorgensen’s Manufacturing of Denmark released the chair and ottoman into its product collection.

An internationally recognizable design, the Ox chair and ottoman have been produced by Modernica since 2003. Painstakingly handcrafted by Modernica’s master builders, each chair and ottoman follow strict adherences to the original design with regards to dimensions, frame construction, and materials – making this significant piece an affordable luxury.

Offered in many fabric and leather choices.
