How will you support Global Recycling Day?

How will you support Global Recycling Day?

In recognition of Global Recycling Day on Monday 18th March and in support of our charity partner the Reuse Network, we are donating a beautiful “Batman Moon Bowl” as seen in the film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (on Bruce Wayne’s dining table in his modernist lakeside house to be precise!) to London-based Reuse member Emmaus GreenwichThis charity provides formerly homeless people the opportunity to get off the streets and into a structured environment in which to live, work and rebuild their lives.

Designed by Mario Bellini for Kartell this large Moon Bowl features a semi-transparent design with internal sculpting which gives it the appearance of a double-face lunar cap. It’s textured design refracts light in unusual and striking ways. We’re very happy to see it go to a good second home!

Global Recycling Day was created to help recognise and celebrate the importance recycling plays in preserving our precious primary resources and securing the future of our planet – a day for the world to come together, and put the planet first.

In the words of The Global Recycling Foundation, the organisation behind Global Recycling Day, “Every year, the earth yields billions of tons of natural resources to transform into consumables. At some point, there will be nothing left. That’s why we must, as a planet, think again about what we throw away – seeing not waste, but opportunity.”

Here at F&F HQ we recycle all our glass, paper, card and plastic and try hard to be a paperless office. We’re lucky to work in a London borough where the council collect and recycle all these as standard.

We also fully support the Reuse Network, a charity who has a network of member organisations who provide preloved, affordable and essential household goods to those in need across the UK. Discover more about our charity partnership.

We would also like to take this opportunity to call upon on our production design, set decoration and art department friends this Global Recycling Day to ensure that film sets are recycled after filming has wrapped. Our charity partners the Reuse Network will certainly take any reusable furniture off your hands!

What will you pledge to recycle on Global Recycling Day? Why not make 18th March a key day to demonstrate you’re committed to sustainability and improving our environment – at home, at work and at play.

And if you’re thinking of buying any furniture, homeware or decor for your own home this weekend, why not make it a preloved piece from our partners such as Preloved, Ebay and Etsy?
