Tulip Chair designed by Maurice Burke for Arkana
Designer: Maurice Burke
Arkana
The Tulip Chair 115 (and the Tulip chair 116) designed by Maurice Burke of Dallas Texas for Arkana are the bedrock of Star Trek.
Its futuristic good looks made it very at home on the U.S.S Enterprise during the late 1960s in the Star Trek Original series and it went on to be used in many of the Star Trek later films.
They also appear in 1967’s Casino Royale.
The Burke Tulip chairs are the first cousins to Saarinen’s Tulip chairs. Some might say rip-off, but they got away with it on a mass scale and in fact the Burke Tulips are collectable and have value in their own right.
Burke versions often have the starburst base as seen in Star Trek.
