De Sede Terrazza Lanscape sofa by Ubald Klug

Designer: Ubald Klug

Director: Rian Johnson

Utter design bliss. Pop Art in furniture form.

Designed by Ubald Klug for De Sede in 1972, the DS-1025 Terrazza is not simply a sofa, but a sculptural landscape. Formed from two ingeniously conceived modular elements, it offers complete freedom in how you compose your seating. Arrange it as a classic two-seater, a stepped pyramid, or an undulating terrain that feels closer to architecture than upholstery.

Each element is shaped like a terrace, with varying depths and widths that invite different ways of sitting. Perch, recline, stretch out. This is a piece designed to be experienced rather than simply used. Available in a range of rich leathers and colours, it brings both playfulness and presence to any interior.

A sofa that deserves gawping at.

Its cinematic credentials only deepen its appeal. The Terrazza makes a striking appearance in Logan’s Run, where its stepped form sits perfectly within a vision of the future defined by artificial landscapes and curated living. It also features in Star Maidens, reinforcing that same off-world, slightly surreal domesticity, and appears in The Goodies in their 2001: A Space Odyssey parody 2001 and a Bit.

More recently, it has been spotted in HIM, filmed at Spaceport America. A fittingly futuristic backdrop for a piece that has always felt slightly ahead of its time. We have also seen a similar custom-made version, in a striking red, in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, within Miles Bron’s vast island mansion.

More than fifty years on, the Terrazza still feels forward-looking. A sofa that became scenery. And continues to hold the room.
