Taliesin 2 Floor Lamp by Frank Lloyd Wright as seen in Bugonia

As seen in:

Designer: Frank Lloyd Wright

Director: Yorgos Lanthimos

Spotted in Michelle’s office in Bugonia, the Taliesin 2 floor lamp is less a light fitting than a quietly commanding piece of architectural sculpture.

First designed in 1933 by Frank Lloyd Wright, the original Taliesin lamp was created for the gymnasium of the Hillside Home School when it was converted into a theatre. Nearly a century on, the design retains its extraordinary relevance.

Composed of stacked, illuminated rectangular boxes in solid wood, Taliesin 2 reads like an abstracted stand of branches and leaves. Light is filtered, softened and patterned, concealed within the structure to reduce glare and create a warm, indirect glow. It reflects Wright’s long-held belief that the most beautiful light is found in nature — sunlight and moonlight passing through trees, never harsh, always considered.

In Michelle’s Bugonia office, the Taliesin 2 feels perfectly at home: architectural, cerebral and sculptural.
