Magis

Among the many design treasures in Severance, the Nimrod chair is a true scene-stealer. Designed by Marc Newson for Magis in 2002, it captures his unmistakable futuristic style with a generous dose of playfulness. In 2009, Magis introduced a refined edition with new upholstery options and a high-gloss finish to the base, lending the chair a more polished, luxurious feel compared to the colourful original.

The chair’s flowing form is moulded from polyethylene using advanced blow-moulding technology, giving it a seamless, sculptural presence. Generous upholstery in Kvadrat fabrics adds comfort and colour, with a wide range of finishes available to suit different interiors. The result is a design that feels equally at home on a space-age film set or in a contemporary living room.

Newson’s approach here is a fusion of playfulness and practicality: its rounded lines invite you to sink back, while its bold silhouette ensures it makes a statement in any setting. In Severance, it embodies the show’s retro-futurist aesthetic — a flash of optimism in an otherwise unnerving corporate world.

You’ll find new editions of the Magis Nimrod chair at Holloways of Ludlow (buy links above), with further fabric options available on request. For those drawn to earlier versions, vintage examples often surface on Chairish.
