The Curtain of Imprinted Memories: Art from Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed

This enigmatic painting ‘The Curtain of Imprinted Memories’ by Stephanie Leonard which appears in front of Christian Grey’s master bedroom in his Penthouse Apartment in Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed is now available for the first time as a limited edition print from Film and Furniture.

Leonard’s artwork, which carries psychologically charged themes much like Christian Grey’s past, was selected by Nelson Coates, Emmy-nominated production designer and president of the Art Directors Guild Awards. Coates, who has the practice of working with local artists, currently serves on the board of trustees of the Laguna College of Art and Design, the University where Leonard graduated from with a Masters of Fine Art graduate degree in Painting.

Stephanie Leonard is a fine artist based in Southern California, United States. With the use of surrealism and magic realism that ranges from detail to loosely simplified forms, her oil paintings explore narratives with elements to represent nostalgia, wonder, and resiliency of the human spirit.

“Life changed forever when cancer grabbed a hold of my child. From that precise moment, I began to see the world around me with a heightened sense of survival and purpose.” says Leonard.

This painting (together with ‘The Passage’ seen in Christian Grey’s private study and ‘With This Sacrifice’ in his master bathroom) belong to the series ‘Splendid Wounds’.
