🪑 Last, but by no means least, No. 8 of 8 Film 🪑 Last, but by no means least, No. 8 of 8 Film Interiors to Inspire Your Halloween Décor — POLTERGEIST (1982)

Suburban calm with a supernatural twist: in Poltergeist, even the furniture moves itself. The sight of Thonet chairs stacked neatly on the kitchen table remains one of horror’s most quietly unnerving moments.

🎬 Get the look:
Recreate the Freelings’ kitchen scene with classic Thonet Heart Bentwood chairs — timeless design with a touch of the uncanny.

🎃 No's 7 of 8 Film Interiors to Inspire Your Ha 🎃 No's 7 of 8 Film Interiors to Inspire Your Halloween Décor — BEETLEJUICE (1988)

When the Deetz family redecorate their haunted home, they turn small-town Gothic into postmodern spectacle.

Notable design details from the 1988 film include the dining room – where the film’s famous Day-O (The Banana Boat Song) scene takes place – with its metal chairs with stretched animal-skins and the speckled table and surfaces inspired by Ettore Sottsass’ Memphis movement. Lydia’s bedroom boasts moody mauve walls, a green floor, and a vibrant yellow dresser – a vivid contrast to the cobalt blue kitchen and the curvy red bar in the living room. Beetlejuice is a design dream (or nightmare) that celebrates the absurd.

🔺Get the look:
Add drama with bold patterns, playful shapes and unexpected contrasts, or take inspiration from the book Tim Burton Designing Worlds.

🕯️No's 5&6 of 8 Film Interiors to Inspire You 🕯️No's 5&6 of 8 Film Interiors to Inspire Your Halloween Décor — CRIMSON PEAK (2015) + NOSFERATU (1922 & 2024)

From decaying mansions to shadowed castles, Gothic design has always been cinema’s most intoxicating spell.

Del Toro’s decaying mansion - Allerdale Hall in Crimson Peak, - bleeds beauty: sweeping staircases and lavish furnishings that ooze opulence and rot in equal measure. “Beautiful horror” personified.

The original Nosferatu remains the Gothic blueprint — haunted shadows, bare stone walls, and living space stripped of excess. In Robert Eggers’ 2024 version, those same principles resurface: the interiors feel existential, with each texture and volume serving the mood rather than decoration.

🦇 Get the look:
For a Halloween update that whispers rather than shouts, introduce gothic candleholders or a dark-framed mirror with a patinated surface to transform a modern room into a Gothic moodscape for the season. Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities (book) is also a world of inspiration.

No's 3&4 of 8 Film Interiors to Inspire Your Hallo No's 3&4 of 8 Film Interiors to Inspire Your Halloween Décor — PSYCHO (1960) + AMERICAN PSYCHO (2000)

In Psycho, the towering Bates mansion looms like a character itself — wood, heavy drapery and brooding silhouettes against stark lighting. Four decades later, Patrick Bateman’s Manhattan apartment echoes the same chill in a different form: white walls, chrome, glass and control.

🏠 Bring the look home:

🔪 PSYCHO - Mix dark woods with stark whites. Try antique mirrors, a rocking chair, and a touch of monochrome for your own “beautifully unsettling” bathroom. The perfect Halloween party wall-decor has to be this Bates Motel Neon Sign (currently on sale at £140.24) and take a look at this handmade miniature model based on the Bates House we found for sale! (£280).

⬛️ AMERICAN PYSCHO - For a Halloween defined by icy precision, choose glass candleholders, monochrome cushions and leather finishes. Pair minimalism with menace – or go full Bateman with a Barcelona Chair in deep black leather and chrome, and the Alanda Coffee Table.

Welcome to No.1 of 8 Film Interiors to Inspire You Welcome to No.1 of 8 Film Interiors to Inspire Your Halloween Décor — and we’re kicking off this series with a special discount offer on our signature The Shining range.

Halloween décor doesn’t have to mean plastic pumpkins and fake cobwebs. For those who prefer their interiors atmospheric rather than kitsch, the most inspired ideas can be found on screen.
Cinema has long conjured beauty from darkness — and some of its most enduring horror and thriller films are as stylish as they are sinister.

🎬 1. The Shining (1980)

One of cinema’s most haunting interiors has to be the Overlook Hotel.
Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece of isolation horror remains a benchmark in design: hypnotic geometry, burnt-orange tones and unsettling symmetry that make the familiar feel terrifying.

The Hicks Hexagon carpet is a design icon. Its repeating pattern of orange, brown and red is instantly recognisable to design lovers and horror fans alike.

🪄 Bring the Overlook home:
Our officially licensed Hicks Hexagon rugs, together with our Room 237 and Gold Room designs, are handcrafted in pure wool and made to the highest quality.
These mesmerising patterns also feature on The Shining cushions and tea towels — for a subtler touch of cinematic atmosphere.
