Baccarat Massena glass tumblers (pre owned)
Director: Sofia Coppola
Lost in Translation sees Bill Murray’s character Bob Harris deliver a performance, with varying degrees of intensity in an ad for a Japanese whisky. And it’s a hell of a glass.
Holding that glass was what Bob Harris was in Japan to do (to advertise Suntory Hibiki 17 year old whisky) and was also drinking whisky when he met Charlotte in the bar of the Toyko Park Hyatt.
The original glass featured in the Suntory advert in Lost in Translation is a Baccarat Massena glass tumbler.
Deep orgue bevel cuts, irradiating from the base, are etched directly into the Clear crystal. The intricate detailing gives the Massena tumbler a barrel-like appearance and a textural feel. This artful handiwork puts the upper smoothness of the glass in sharp relief. The polished silhouette and prismatic qualities make it worthy of any festive occasion or special soirée. The Massena tumbler is just one component of the Massena bar and tableware collection, which encompasses Massena wine glasses, highball glasses, and a decanter, all of which share a scrupulously textural quality.
