Kristian Vedel Modus Lounge Chair and stool/ottoman, Scandinavian Modern
As seen in:
Designer: Kristian Vedel
Director: Francois Truffaut
The Kristian Vedel Modus lounge chair features sling-like sculpted back and armrests which form to the body. These chairs are part of the Modus system by Danish designer Kristian Vedel for Søren Willadsen. Designed in 1963, both the chair and ottoman have rosewood frames and leather cushions. We spotted a Kristian Vedel Modus Lounge Chair and ottoman in François Truffaut’s Fahrenheit 451 (1966).
Vedel was influenced by Kaare Klint and the Bauhaus school. His Scandinavian Modern designs are characterised by creative use of materials.
You can find vintage versions of the modus chair and otttoman on Chairish and ebay.
Prices start from around £495 for a chair upwards to £2000 for pair of chairs or a chair with ottoman
