Grand Repos Lounge Chair
Designer: Antonio Citterio
Vitra
Designed in 2012 by Antonio Citterio, the Grand Repos Chair offers the ultimate in seating comfort. Combining the ergonomics of a task chair with the elegance of a lounge, Grand Repos is a completely new approach to seating. Featuring a biomechanical range of motion, this lounge adapts to all seating positions, from sitting up and reading to reclining back for a catnap.
Architect and designer Antonio Citterio has developed hotels, offices and residences worldwide, while also producing furniture and accessories for companies like Vitra. Born in Meda, a small Italian city, Citterio earned a degree in architecture at Politecnico di Milano in 1972 and soon established his multidisciplinary design studio. He started with Vitra in 1985, and Grand Repos (2011) is his latest collaboration with the Swiss company.
The movements of the seat and back are synchronized, offering complete support with each move, and the invisible reclining mechanism can be locked in any position. The contoured backrest provides comfortable lumbar support with adjustable back tension. Lounge has a removable headrest and a swiveling base.
