Cantilever 291 Chair by Steen Ostergaard for Cado
Designer: Steen Ostergaard
The iconic cantilevered 291 armchair designed in 1969 by Steen Ostergaard is a simple and elegant chair with retro futuristic styling and has featured in movies such as James Bond The Spy Who Loved Me.
The 291’s sister chair the 290 was the first ever cantilever chair in the world that was injection-moulded in one single operation. This also required the largest piece of moulding-tool ever made for injection of nylon at that time.
The chair is made of polyamid (nylon) reinforced with fibre-glass, is fully-depth coloured and injection-moulded in one single operation. The chair has a silky gloss, is stackable, antistatic and cannot delaminate. It can be used indoors and outdoors. The chair is available in a number of colours.
We can source vintage originals of this chair through our Film and Furniture interior design service. Please contact us.
