Designer: Vanessa Gómez

Vanessa Gómez’s art work features in Teddy Dos Santos’s villa in The Night Manager Season Two. Production designer Victor Molero told Film and Furniture:

“On this project, sourcing textiles, tiles and decorative elements wasn’t about filling spaces, but about finding pieces that carried real cultural weight. I worked very closely with our Colombian set decorator, Melissa Villegas, who introduced me to local artists whose work resonated with the characters and environments we were building. For Teddy’s villa, we collaborated with artist Vanessa Gómez, whose background in textiles is extraordinary. Her work fitted perfectly with the more indigenous visual language we were looking for, helping us connect the space to Teddy’s roots in a subtle but meaningful way.”

Gómez’s work is rooted in a deep engagement with craft traditions, particularly Latin American weaving. Her practice treats weaving not simply as a technique, but as a quiet act of resistance to the speed and uniformity of modern production. Through hand weaving and sewing, she explores repetition, rhythm and order, setting them against the imprecision of mechanised processes and inviting reflection on the relationship between people, technology and labour.
