In After the Hunt, Luca Guadagnino uses interiors In After the Hunt, Luca Guadagnino uses interiors the way other directors use confessionals — the room speaks before the character does.

We meet Alma (Julia Roberts) through her apartment: a Manhattan-style Classic Seven transplanted to Yale, signalling an intellectual world built on curation, heritage and cultivated taste. New Haven on paper, Upper West Side in psychology.

The living spaces are her “public self” — red walls and deep tobacco velvets, then a soft shift to Morris & Co florals and inherited ease. Even the Verner Panton Flowerpot lamp feels like a quiet credential rather than décor. The modernist silhouettes, the African sculptures, the enfilade layout: everything is a cue.

Before Alma says a word, the furniture tells us who she believes herself to be.

Spot any other design ‘tells’ in this room?

👀 Explore the full apartment and its hidden symbolism — with exclusive insights from Production Designer Stefano Baisi (@_benseena) — in our latest feature

Diane Keaton in Annie Hall wasn’t just playing a Diane Keaton in Annie Hall wasn’t just playing a character, she was Annie Hall.
This is the film that captured her real-life ease, wit and quietly stylish way of existing in a room… and helped turn a chair like the Eames Soft Pad into part of that language of effortless cool.

Pic 2: Here’s the genius of the set design: two therapy sessions, two entirely different inner worlds.
Annie’s side is open, light, modernist — spacious, breathable, unfussy.
Alvy’s is dense, enclosed, old-world intellectualism.
Same conversation, different emotional geography.

Keaton’s Oscar-winning performance didn’t just influence acting — it shifted interiors and identity.
That relaxed, lived-in sophistication became a whole aesthetic: thoughtful spaces, personal comfort over display, design as a reflection of quiet self-knowledge rather than status.

With the news of her passing, this film now feels even more tender.
Annie Hall was a snapshot of a woman who shaped modern style simply by being herself. Clothes, posture, décor, the room around her, all part of the same honesty.

A reminder that great design in film isn’t decoration… it’s autobiography in objects.

The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado – fore The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado – forever etched in horror history as the place that sparked Stephen King’s imagination for The Shining – is entering a new chapter of its own.

A major expansion is underway that will see the creation of the Stanley Exhibit Center – a new $60 million arts and culture space dedicated to horror cinema. Still in its early stages, it promises to draw fresh life (and a few familiar spirits) back through those historic corridors. If you’ve ever planned a visit and never quite made it (us included), this might finally be the moment to cross the threshold.

🎃 No's 7 of 8 Film Interiors to Inspire Your Ha 🎃 No's 7 of 8 Film Interiors to Inspire Your Halloween Décor — BEETLEJUICE (1988)

When the Deetz family redecorate their haunted home, they turn small-town Gothic into postmodern spectacle.

Notable design details from the 1988 film include the dining room – where the film’s famous Day-O (The Banana Boat Song) scene takes place – with its metal chairs with stretched animal-skins and the speckled table and surfaces inspired by Ettore Sottsass’ Memphis movement. Lydia’s bedroom boasts moody mauve walls, a green floor, and a vibrant yellow dresser – a vivid contrast to the cobalt blue kitchen and the curvy red bar in the living room. Beetlejuice is a design dream (or nightmare) that celebrates the absurd.
