Writer/producer Curtis Gwinn (who has written for Stranger Things, Narcos and The Walking Dead), his wife writer/producer Jessica Blackwell and their dog Bruce Wayne, are very happy with their new officially licensed Hicks Hexagon ‘The Shining’ rug we delivered to them last week. This is our first hexagonal shaped hexagon rug and looks great outside the ‘GWINNERAMA’ - their home cinema, named in honour of the famous Hollywood Cinerama Dome movie theater.

💡 We caught site of many retro lamps in Spinnin

💡 We caught site of many retro lamps in Spinning Gold, the biopic of 1970s record producer Neil Bogart who co-founded Casablanca Records. For example, there's a modern Italian table lamp from @PorterandPlunk in Giorgio Moroder’s (all hail the king!) recording studio in Munich and a blue metallic and enamel floor lamp which is a fine example of 1960s/1970s space age design.

"We used those in Moroder’s studio to add a sense of futurism to compliment the synthesisers. His music was considered very modern and futuristic at the time. We wanted to give a sense of forward thinking and foreshadowing of changing times" production designer John El Manahi told us.

#ad ☁️ You know we're big fans of vintage Howard Keith sofas? Well, a handsome rare vintage 1970s Howard Keith Cloud three-piece suite is coming up for auction in the Design Sale at a Sworders Fine Art Auctioneers on 16th/17th of May (viewings on 14th/15th May).

This this 3-piece set from HK Furniture, has been re-covered by @cloudsofas in cinnamon-red velvet fabric.
Each piece is raised on castors, comprising:
☁️ a sofa with an asymmetrical backrest, with three bolster cushions, each modelled as various cloud shapes,
☁️ a lounge chair,
☁️ and an ottoman/pouffe.

Estimate: £10,000-£18,000.

🎶 Spinning Gold spins a tale of Casablanca Records and 1970s decor.

👀 We learn about the legacy of Casablanca Records in Spinning Gold, the biopic of 1970s record producer Neil Bogart who co-founded the American record label. We can all also learn a lot about 70’s interior design and furniture from this movie, so join us in our latest feature as we go on a Film-and-Furniture-style investigation with production designer John El Manahi (link in bio).

Named after Neil Bogart’s favourite film Casablanca (he also changed his last name to that of its star Humphrey Bogart), the record label had heavyweights like KISS, Donna Summer, Parliament, Gladys Knight, The Isley Brothers, The Village People, and Bill Withers on their roster.
.
We find several nods to the film Casablanca, especially in Neil's Casablanca Records office which features several Moroccan style decor accents such as Moroccan screens and ceiling pendant lights as an ode to Rick's Cafe in the Casablanca film.
.
💡The interior design scheme is fused with lots of 1970s lighting such as the original Goffredo Reggiani arc lamp.

Inspired by the melting ice in Lapland, the Ultima Thule glassware by Finnish designer Tapio Wirkkala is the design legend’s most famous work. This glassware range has a rounded base with three ice peaks that float above the surface and bring a slice of arctic nature to your home.
