Exceptional interiors, exclusive designs and breathtaking architecture – what else can we observe in the movies? Let’s take a closer look at 5 well-known movies which feature Dubai’s iconic property:

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011)

The Mission: Impossible franchise was partly filmed in one of the international architectural wonders: Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. Tom Cruise famously scaled the skyscraper’s exterior for a thrilling action sequence that left audiences on the edge of their seats.

In the film you can also see the Armani Hotel, the artificial island Palm Jumeirah, and the Zabeel Saray Hotel as locations for some of the main scenes. The latter was used to depict an Indian Palace. We can enjoy intricate marble floors, red carpets and luminous chandeliers decorated with elaborate sculptures.

Star Trek Beyond

Star Trek‘s 2016 movie Star Trek Beyond was partially filmed in Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach Residence. The futuristic cityscape of Dubai provided the perfect backdrop for the sci-fi epic, with the city’s towering skyscrapers and sleek architecture lending an air of otherworldliness to the film.

Other popular locations depicted in the film are the Burj Al Arab, Al Mas Tower, Central Park and Meydan. The futuristic architecture and the robust infrastructure of the city make it a leading destination for filmmaking.

Syriana (2005)

The political thriller Syriana was partially filmed in Dubai’s iconic Burj Al Arab hotel. The luxurious property served as a background for several major scenes, including a tense meeting between two of the film’s main characters.

The most talented designers have created the exclusive interior of the Burj Al Arab and in order to emphasise its exclusive luxury and the spirit of wealth, for the hotel rooms and halls they used about 1590 m² of gold foil, as well as the best kinds of natural materials, precious and semi-precious stones, natural wood and leather.

Bang Bang (2014)

The Bollywood action movie Bang Bang was partially filmed in Dubai’s Atlantis, The Palm hotel. The film’s stars frolick on the hotel’s private beach and enjoy many amenities and beauties of the resort.

Atlantis the Palm is designed in Arabian style and resembles a majestic palace from a fairytale. In the background of several scenes in the movie, we can enjoy frescoes depicting mythological creatures – Atlanteans and several oceanariums decorated with imitations of the famous ruins of the Arabian Peninsula.

Happy New Year (2014)

The Bollywood heist movie Happy New Year also chose Dubai’s Atlantis, The Palm hotel for some of it’s filming. The film’s climax takes place in the hotel’s grand ballroom, with the characters attempting to pull off a daring robbery during a New Year’s Eve celebration.

Famous frescoes in the large lobby of the hotel are depicted in the film. The producer has stated that the hotel was a perfect location for a film short because of the combination of ancient and modern elements.
