Comments on: Breakfast at Tiffany’s set design: Holly Golightly’s apartment https://filmandfurniture.com/2015/03/breakfast-at-tiffanys-set-design/ For design geeks, film nerds and furniture fans Wed, 24 Apr 2024 00:43:01 +0000 hourly 1 By: Nicole S https://filmandfurniture.com/2015/03/breakfast-at-tiffanys-set-design/#comment-149509 Wed, 24 Apr 2024 00:43:01 +0000 http://www.filmandfurniture.com/?p=1740#comment-149509 I have a pretty good idea of how the shades/blinds/curtains in Paul’s apartment are MADE, and even a few possibilities of who can make them to order (I’m the daughter and daughter-in-law of two extremely talented knitters, weavers, spinners, textile aficionadas and members of guilds where a) such projects would be enjoyed and (being Canadian) not overpriced, and b) every single person present understands the cachet and desirability of crafting an item from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, one of the coolest movies ever made. The sole question is the price of the textiles used, and what they’re made from. You could have them made in cashmere, undoubtedly, but why spend that money when it’s on something that doesn’t touch your skin?) At any rate, if anyone should want an estimate, and can give some idea of their desired material(s) and/or price range, I can put that together. And score brownie points at the same time, tbh.

I’m actually (boringly) looking at the shelves as I’m redoing my apartment right now. I presume Ikea would have something of the like, but there may be other, preferable options, if anyone has a suggestion. Lastly I love the look of the stacked, vintage-in-perfect-condition suitcases, but I have a friend who collects them and the key is to spend the majority of 30 years checking every thrift shop and estate sale you find in your path, and her half-dozen perfect sets put Holly Golightly’s to shame. I couldn’t possibly be satisfied with anything less.

Yes they’re really unusual. Not sure where you could get them now. you could try sending the image to a shade/blind specialist and ask for their advice?
